While many large companies have access to advanced data and analytics tools and techniques, they still struggle to provide helpful insights. The 3DM6 Approach addresses two important reasons; missing connections to business objectives, and incomplete solutions. Those two weaknesses can result in a lot of unnecessary wasted effort and risk.

The 3DM6 Approach came together by observing issues and best practices I learned from others while in various middle management positions as a customer and supplier of Data and Analytics services. It attempts to provide specific and practical suggestions using straightforward business-oriented language that crosses disciplines and levels of the organization. 

For me, the 3DM6 Approach has withstood the test of time. Why start writing about it now? Hopefully, some will find the suggestions helpful. I also want to examine how well the Approach applies to current issues and technological advances like Artificial Intelligence.
